For the 28th time, BAUExpo brought together supply and demand just in time for the start of the construction season. The tried-and-tested industry trade fair is an information platform for private and commercial builders, tradespeople, planners and anyone interested in construction. Visitors streamed through the seven halls of Messe Giessen. Despite the tense situation in the construction industry, exhibitors reported many good discussions and were pleased with the successful trade fair with targeted inquiries and a high willingness to invest. The weekend in particular was used by Giessen residents and guests from the city, who also travelled further afield to find out about building new homes or renovating, modernizing and redesigning existing properties. Many came with concrete plans and projects, sought advice and worked with the exhibitors to find a way to implement them in the near future.

In his opening speech, Lord Mayor Frank-Tilo Becher emphasized the relevance of the trade fair as a "showcase for the local economy" and a platform that has a lot to offer. Especially in times of supply bottlenecks, a shortage of skilled workers and an energy crisis. Stefan Füll, President of the Wiesbaden Chamber of Skilled Crafts, also emphasized in his welcoming address that although many offers are being requested, orders are often delayed. BAUExpo offers an excellent opportunity to obtain comprehensive advice.

As in the previous year, the energy transition was THE topic of the trade fair. Numerous suppliers provided information on façade insulation, roof insulation, heat pumps or solar technology and photovoltaics. Many visitors enquired about alternative ways of generating energy and how they can save energy in their house or apartment.

Ms. Ferber from the Pfeiler energy consultancy confirmed: "Visitors were particularly interested in the area of energy-efficient renovation. The need for advice on possible subsidies is particularly high here." "Photovoltaic systems are still most in demand," says Mr. Cunsolo from EnergieRitter GmbH.

The topics of smart homes, barrier-free living and security in houses and apartments have also been an integral part of the range of exhibits for years. The new exhibition area "Living and Furnishing" complemented the broad spectrum of the trade fair. Here, large furniture stores and craft manufacturers offered individual solutions for designing your own four walls.

There was a brief scare for everyone on Sunday afternoon, when a burning cigarette in a waste garbage can set off the fire alarm system and led to the fire department briefly evacuating the exhibition halls. Fortunately, no one was injured and the trade fair was able to continue as normal after a short break.

BAUExpo has once again shown that it is an important meeting place for players in the industry. The date for the next BauExpo has already been set: next year, Hessen's largest construction trade fair will take place from March 7 to 9.
